        Mythology

This word has many different meanings. In simple words , mythology is a collection of myths i.e. ancient stories or epics which cannot be proved due to lack of evidence. Mythology is what people call the Great Ancient Epics of Mahabharat , Ramayana , Shishupala Vadh etc. These are not common people , but learned scholars, awarded for their many achievements. Crazy right? As there definitely is enough evidence to prove these epics actually happened. Well , there is a lot more to this which I’ll be covering in this article.

The Great Indian Epics And The Proofs of Their Existence

Two of the most popular Epics of Hindu Dharm are Ramayan and Mahabharat which I will discuss about. These Epics hold great significance and teach us what is right and what is wrong. The proofs of their existence are as follows:-

        (i) Ramayan

The events of Ramayan took place in the Treta Yug, and the epic narrates the life of Lord Ram , the prince of Ayodhya. The epic is about how Lord Ram saves his wife Sita after she was kidnapped by the king of Lanka – Ravan, during their 14 year long exile. While there are many scriptures, manuscripts, cave carvings and books about these events, people needed more than that to believe in the existence of Adipurush.

Now there is other evidence such as the existence of Ram Setu , which is a bridge that Shri Ram’s Vanar Sena built from floating stones with his name engraved on them to reach Sri Lanka and was visible until 1964 (now submerged underwater). Also, The time taken to travel from Sri Lanka To Ayodhya is 21 days, which is exactly the amount of time Lord Ram took to reach Ayodhya after killing Ravan. Even after these many proofs, people do not want to believe in all this. But why? Maybe because it is very old. Well here is an example of a more recent epic below.

        (ii) Mahabharat

The Tale of The Greatest War In the History of Bharat, Mahabharat, took place in the Dwapar Yug. It is the story of Pandavs’ quarrel with their own cousins, The Kauravs for the throne of Hastinapur. Due to the events of Mahabharat being much recent as compared to the events of Ramayan, more people tend to believe it.

Proofs such as the discovery of Dwarka Nagri, Mathura Nagri, Vrindavan Nagri and Gokul Nagri, which were all the places where Lord Krishna used to live and show his leela during Dwapar Yug itself. The Kedarnath Temple (Kedar Khand) , built by the Pandavs, is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, adjacent to the new age temple built by Jagad Guru Adi Shankracharya, is a major evidence to not consider Mahabharat a mythology.

And lastly, archaeologists have been trying to find out why the soil in Kurukshetra is red in color , some say that the Battle Of Kurukshetra was so ruthless that the bloodshed turned the soil red. Now it mainly is because of the rich iron content in the soil, but it is important for the argument. Even after these many proofs, a large number of people still refuse to believe in these theories. What exactly is the main reason for that?

        Summary/सारांश

Even after so many archaeological proofs of the epic’s existence, people are not ready to accept that they existed. It is almost like turning a blind eye to all this factual information. To answer this, I would say that the idea of believing in something only looks good if one has faith in it. We, who are spreading the information about Sanatan believe everything that has happened in history wholeheartedly, And those who do not probably have a completely different belief system than us. Many people base their opinions of the Hindu Dharm  without even knowing what it actually means.  As Thomas Gray said -“Ignorance Is A Bliss”. And ignorant people will do anything to prove their point, that is what they prepare for all day. It is a problem of your belief system if you want proof of the existence of God anyways.
