We have always seen Maa Durga as a symbol of strength, power and invincibility. She is courageous and just. But have we ever given it a thought that there might be more to Maa Durga than her strength and power? Most of us may have not. So let us learn about the various teachings of Maa Durga.

Maa Durga is considered to be one of the primordial Hindu goddesses. She is deeply compassionate, a protector and a nurturer.
Maa Durga has nine forms and each form teaches us a different virtue that we can inculcate in our lives.

Maa Shailputri tells us to search for our life’s purpose. We all have a purpose in our lives and we have to find that purpose and discover ourselves. We should always do a task with an aim in mind, we should ask ourselves the significance of that task in our life and do that task with determination and dedication.
Maa Brahmacharini teaches us determination and focus. We must always be focused on whatever task is given to us or whatever task we take up for ourselves. We should not do a task halfheartedly as it may reduce the quality of our work.
Maa Chandraghanta tells us to seek knowledge. To succeed in life and find our purpose, we must be willing to gain knowledge.
Maa Kushmanda teaches us that we can create our path and our destiny. We are in control of our own lives and only we can decide how we live.
Maa Skandamata teaches us compassion. We should always be caring and compassionate towards others. We should spread love and foster a positive environment whenever possible as positivity leads us to lead a healthy and successful life.
Maa Katyayani teaches us that we are our masters and we can conquer our fears. We should not let our inner demons conquer us but we should conquer them. We should always be courageous in every step of our life.
Maa Kaalratri teaches us to be fierce against all adversaries in life. We should accept the challenges that come in our path and face them bravely. If we do not defeat our adversaries, they will defeat us.
Maa Mahagauri teaches us to embrace our inner beauty. She is the symbol of purity. We should not let our negativity affect us and we should practice self-love and gentleness to ourselves.
Maa Siddhidatri teaches us to be grateful and content with our lives, with the people around us and ourselves.

Maa Durga’s teachings of love and compassion are universal. It transcends all cultures and religions. Maa Durga teaches us to love ourselves and love everyone and everything around us. She teaches us to show compassion to every being on this earth and to never foster any negative emotions towards any being. She is Maa Durga, a mother and a warrior. Just as a mother loves her child unconditionally, and just as a warrior fights every battle with fearlessness, we should too incorporate these qualities into our lives. She teaches us to persevere through all the ups and downs in our own lives and never give up on our dreams or ourselves.
