Our breath is a very magical thing. It is like a postman which carries our thoughts, words and actions even our intentions into the universe. It also draws to us messages and the energy from the universe for the purpose of survival and existence.

Whatever we are doing,we are doing it to the universe. So,it means what all negativity we are having or we are doing we are offering it to the universe also? No.In actual, whatever we are giving to the universe,it multiplies and comes back to us via breath. It includes both positive and negative thoughts. We have to be very  careful about what we are offering to the universe. It can be in the form of thoughts, actions or speech.

It is said that we should do “Tarpan” to remove all our past Karma, imperfections and polluted thoughts.

        What is Tarpan?

Tarpan is a ritual  which is performed by the eldest son of a deceased person. In the month of ‘pitru paksh’ the deceased soul visits earth to accept gifts, food and water offered by their family members. Crows are believed to be the representative of a deceased person in the family.

Just like this we should do ‘Tarpan’ to remove the burden from our souls and purification of polluted minds.Whenever a negative thought, some vices or past incidences arises, then do their tarpan.

        How to do Tarpan :

The best way to do Tarpan is offer your thoughts to the divine.Do meditation or sit into meditation . Visualize that they are releasing from your body and going to the divine. It is one of the best ways to cleanse your mind.Keep doing this activity till the thoughts stop emerging. Don’t complain or demand anything during this process.Always remember whatever situation is happening it is helping us to move forward by cutting our past actions.

It is helping us to evolve spiritually, intellectually by illuminating our mind.It guides us to not to hold onto the past Karma and move on.God is everywhere and it knows everything. He has planned everything in advance for us,in an order and according to our Karma.

Those who practice Sadhna are always true in their thoughts, actions or words. It becomes a source of courage for the future. It helps in illuminating the path.Live each moment good or bad to the fullest.Don’t try to escape from them but try to take lessons from them.

Trying to move on and not by lingering upon and brooding over the already done actions is a waste of time and energy. It only stops our growth. So,Tarpan, Arpan and Samarpan are the only mantras to evolve in our lives.

We should be true to ourselves and to God.By practicing meditation, havan and puja we can easily surrender ourselves to God.

In the beginning of the article I mentioned that breath is like a postman. We should try to practice breathing techniques as it is very helpful in controlling our actions and thoughts.Meditation and a powerful technique ‘Sudarshan Kriya ‘ offered by Sri Sri Ravishankar ji is very helpful. If one cannot do this try to chant ‘Om’ or ‘ Om Namah Shivay ‘.It is also very helpful activity for doing Tarpan.
