Lord Shiva a transcendental yogi, his personality is like a solution and a maze in itself. The god who is also worshiped in his calm and ferocious forms, like Nataraj and Rudra. But there is a most common form of shiva which is worshiped everywhere I mean everywhere, in every state, city, district and village. The form of a Lingam is a form which is sometimes cylindrical in shape and a hemisphere from the top. This form is the most worshiped form of Lord Shiva.

        1. Lore
Once Lord Brahma quarreled with Lord Narayana, claiming his supremacy above all. Then Lord Shiva suggested a way and said that he will become a comic pillar which will go deeper than the sea and higher than the sky, and who will be able to reach the edge of this pillar will be considered as the supreme. Then Lord Brahma took a flower in the way of finding the edge and saw that this flower is falling from the top, so this flower must be coming from the top of this pillar. Lord Brahma showed that flower as the proof of his victory and Lord Shiva cursed him for his lie.

Then after this event that pillar form of lord shiva became the symbol of equality and truthfulness and started getting worshiped in the form of Lingam.
